Kevin Slough, P.Eng, M.ASc. – CEO
Kevin Slough co-founded FilterBoxx in 2001 and has extensive industrial water and wastewater treatment experience. Prior to founding FilterBoxx, Kevin held senior engineering positions with Komex International (now part of Worley-Parsons) and Earth Tech. Kevin received his Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Regina and is a registered engineer with APPEGA.
John Coburn- Chairman
John Coburn is a Managing Director of XPV Capital Corporation, specializing in emerging high growth environmental technology companies, focused on innovative water technologies. Previously, as President and Chief Operating Officer of ZENON Environmental, he helped grow the company from startup to a world leader in water treatment using membrane technology, with over $146M in revenue and market capitalization of $700M. John is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of EnviroTower Inc. and a Director of APTwater Inc and FilterBoxx Water and Environmental Corp. He is a member of the Sustainable Development Technology Canada Investment Committee, a $1 billion program that finances and supports the development and demonstration of clean technologies. John is also the Sector Practice Lead, Water and Waste Water, for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade's (DFAIT) Cleantech Strategy.
Jay Simmons – Director
Jay Simmons has held numerous executive-level and director positions with several oil and gas and service businesses and power generation enterprises. He also has restructuring and advisory services experience with a global chartered accounting firm. Jay holds a chartered accountant designation and is a graduate of Dalhousie University.
Wally Hunter – Director
Wally Hunter has been investing in energy and clean energy companies and projects for 11 years. Prior to EnerTech, Wally was with Royal Bank of Canada ("RBC"), where he was a Managing Director of the bank's private equity fund and responsible for the Energy Technology and Advanced Technology Fund. Prior to that, he was in RBC's investment banking division. In addition, Wally produced and hosted the weekly financial television show "Money Week" which featured over 200 guest interviews from Canadian and U.S. money managers over a 14 year period.
Wally received a BA from the University of Western Ontario and has completed a number of securities-related courses and programs including the Canadian Securities Institute (CSC program) and Canadian Investment Finance (CIF I, II &III).
Nancy Laird – Director
Ms. Laird is a corporate director with more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry; she has held senior executive positions in several energy companies. Her diverse background includes managing energy trading and marketing, midstream assets, information technology and environmental portfolios.
She serves as a director of several public companies – Keyera Corp., Alter Nrg Corp. and Synodon Inc. - and as a director of a provincial agency the Alberta Electric System Operator. She is also a former board member of Enerflex System Income Fund, Canetic Resources Trust, Canadian Oil Sands Trust, Alliance Pipeline Inc. and SAIT Polytechnic. Ms. Laird also serves as the Chair of the Board of Calgary Technologies Inc, Director of Calgary Counseling Centre and a former board member of the United way of Calgary, Hull Child and Family Services and the Calgary Health Region.
From 1997 to 2002, she served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Midstream of Encana Corporation, and of EnCana’s predecessor, PanCanadian Energy Corporation. She was Formerly President of NRG Information Services Inc. and held various positions of increasing responsibility with Norcen Enercy Inc., North Canadian Oils Inc., Canpet marketing Limited and Shell Canada Ltd.
Ms. Laird holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and earned her MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto.
